Flip-Flap Gatefold Card Instructions
Materials Needed:
• Cardstock for base: 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”
• White cardstock: Four pieces of 2” x 5 1/4”
• Designer Series Paper (DSP): 4” x 5” (inside panel)
• White cardstock for sentiment: 3” x 4”
• Additional DSP: 3” x 4” (for flip-flop element)
• Embossing folder
• Stamped elements and embellishments
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Score the Card Base
• Take your 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” cardstock and score at 2 1/8” from each end.
• Fold on the score lines to create the gatefold.
2. Layer the White Panels
• Attach the four 2” x 5 1/4” white cardstock pieces to the two outside panels and two inside panels of the gatefold card.
3. Emboss and Layer Decorative Panels
• Take four pieces of 1 3/4” x 5” cardstock and emboss them using your embossing folder.
• Adhere these embossed pieces onto the previously attached white panels (outside and inside).
4. Prepare the Inside Designer Paper
• Cut a piece of 4” x 5” Designer Series Paper (DSP) and set it aside.
• Before attaching it, adhere your flip-flap mechanism to the inside center of the card base.
5. Add the Sentiment Layer
• Take the 3” x 4” white cardstock (for your sentiment) and adhere it onto the 4” x 5” DSP.
• Attach this layered piece to the inside of your card.
6. Create the Flip-Flop Element
• Cut a 3” x 4” piece of DSP and place it into the plastic flip-flop mechanism.
7. Decorate Your Card
• Use stamped images, die cuts, and embellishments to decorate the front and inside of your card.
• Add your sentiment to complete the design.
